Worshiping the Lord with Joy

June 24, 2018 Speaker: Kyle Schwahn Series: Deuteronomy: A Covenant of Love

Passage: Deuteronomy 12:1– 16:17

HOME GROUP DISCUSSION:

- The Canaanites had many places of worship for their many gods scattered throughout the land. Why would it be important to remove the names of the Canaanite gods from the land? What was commanded of the Children of Israel concerning God's name and where to worship?

- The commmand to worship in joy is repeated throughout these chapters. Does it make sense to commmand joyful worship? (Hint: The people of the world find joy in the ______; the people of God find joy in _____.)

- For the Children of Israel, the people of God came into the presence of God to find their joy in God. Did this change with the coming of Jesus? How do followers of Christ today come into the presence of God? What implications does this have for you and your church?
