Passage: 1 Thessalonians 5:16–18

HOME GROUP DISCUSSION

- What does the Bible have to say about the purpose of humanity? To truly enjoy our lives, whose will is to be recognized and followed?

- Although we can't know God's exact plan for creation, those of us who seek to honor Him need to know God's moral will for our lives - what kind of person He wants us to be and the kinds of things He wants us to value. Where can the moral will of God be found? Where are the things found that oppose God's moral will? In your own life, which do you get more of?

- What are the three ongoing commands from 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18? From these verses, what should joy in the Christian life look like? What does joy in your life look like?

- How can we continue to engage in rejoicing, praying and giving thanks when we are caught in hardship? Kyle suggested that those who struggle with joy in their lives must press past the "what" to the "why." What does this mean? How can it help you and others to experience joy in any circumstance?
