Passage: Matthew 4:12–17

HOME GROUP DISCUSSION

- Why does Matthew draw our attention to the region of Galilee - where Jesus began his ministry - by calling it "the territory of Zebulun and Naphtali?" Are there other parts of Isaiah 9 that Matthew would like his readers to note?

- What does the concept of light represent throughout the Bible? See if you can find verses about light in chapters 2, 9, 50, 51, 58 and 60 of Isaiah. What other parts of the Bible come to mind when thinking of "light?"

- What is significant about Galilee as a place where Jesus begins his ministry? Why does Matthew call it "Galilee of the Gentiles" and Isaiah call it "Galilee of the nations?"

- Do you belong to the Kingdom of God? If so, where is the Kingdom of God? When is the Kingdom of God?
