Passage: Psalm 98:1–9

SMALL GROUP DISCUSSION

- Psalm 98 exhorts us to sing to the Lord a new song. What does this mean to you?

- What kind of imagery is the psalmist evoking when he mentions God's "right hand and his holy arm?" How is that related to Exodus 15:1-18? In what way is God a conquerer in your life?

- Psalm 98 refers to God's salvation in each of the first three verses. Why is salvation such an important theme for the psalmist? Why is salvation an important thing for us?

- Psalm 98:9, the final verse of the Psalm, talks about the Lord coming to judge the earth. Why do you think this is in a Psalm about singing and rejoicing? What allows us to rejoice in God's judgement?
