SMALL GROUP DISCUSSION
- Jeremiah 10:1-16 was written in the context of idolatry. Why do you think Israel - God's chosen people - struggles so much with the worshiping of idols? Jeremiah describes the worship of false gods as vanity. What does that mean?
- Do idols still exist in the twenty-first century? If so, what are some examples? How are followers of Christ pulled into loving something more than God? If the flow of cultural traffic is pulling believers into idolatry, what do we need to escape the lies?
- What are the attributes of God found in Jeremiah 10:1-16? (the ONLY God; a HOLY God; the LIVING God; etc.) What is the link between seeing God's attributes clearly and idolatry? If we are treasured by God enough for him to sacrifice his only Son for us, how much should we treasure God in return?
- Discuss this quote: "What comes into our minds when we think about God is the most important thing about us."
