Passage: John 17:20–26

SMALL GROUP DISCUSSION

- In John 17:20-26, Jesus is praying. Who is he praying for? How does his prayer reveal God's purposes? Jesus talks about his followers being one; what do you think this means? Why is being one important?

- If the followers of Jesus are a people formed by God's word (John 17:20), what is this word of the gospel? How do God's people submit to the word of the gospel?

- If the followers of Jesus are a people clothed in God's glory (John 17:22), what is this glory and where does it come from? In the life of Jesus, where was God's glory most displayed? How can we display God's glory in our lives?

- If the followers of Jesus are a people united in God's love (John 17:23-26), how do we know we share in God's love? What other Scripture can you think of that talks about our need to live in God's love?
